WHO WE ARE

ACS On Campus is a collegiate branch of the American Cancer Society that brings the fight against cancer directly to UCLA students by planning Relay For Life, encouraging education through rallies, inspiring advocacy by petitioning, and celebrating survivorship and caregiver engagement. 

 

Since our start 17 years ago, ACS On Campus at UCLA has raised over $2,002,369 for cancer research and patient services provided by the American Cancer Society. Within just the past 5 years, ACS On Campus’s impact has grown tremendously in the LA community, allowing us to raise over $1 million. The money we raise goes towards providing Hope Lodge stays for patients, transportation services to treatments, 24/7 helpline for anyone affected by cancer, and breakthrough research, including 11 research projects at UCLA currently. 

We are also the proud recipients of many prestigious awards including: Leaders of Hope for three years in a row, Survivor & Caregiver Engagement Chapter of the Year for three years in a row, Advocacy Chapter of the Year, Cancer Education Leader, and Top Fundraiser. We believe these recognitions speak to the strategic planning, organization, and execution of the American Cancer Society's mission statement by our dedicated staff of student volunteers each year.

Our Mission

 

Our mission is for no one to ever hear the words “You have cancer”. Through education, fundraising, and advocacy, American Cancer Society On Campus at UCLA works year round to create a world without cancer so we can celebrate more birthdays with our loved ones.

​

ACS On Campus collaborates with the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Together, we help to prevent cancer, save lives, and diminish suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, fundraising, and service.

 

One of ACS On Campus's main goals is to educate the UCLA community in order to spread awareness and teach students about the cancers they could be at risk for and the importance of frequent cancer screenings. Through monthly cancer awareness rallies and at Relay For Life, we are able to help students be proactive about their health.
